Hello UCSC Library colleagues,
My name is Raynna Bowlby and I will be your guide and facilitator for the Library's Strategic Planning process. I am delighted to be working for and with you on this energizing and important activity. It was a pleasure to meet some of the Library staff for our kick-off work session on Monday 8/18 and I hope to meet more folks in the coming weeks. The beauty of Santa Cruz and your campus and the hospitality of many are most appreciated.
To help you to get to know me I am attaching a copy of my resume so if you're interested you can learn a bit about my background. I led the Strategic Planning initiative for my former institution (Brown University Library) in the late 1990s and I have served as a consultant and facilitator to several other institutions of higher ed in their planning efforts. My current consulting practice also engages heavily in leadership and management development and in library assessment activities.
You can see from this wiki that the approach we are going to use for planning is to place our focus outside of the Library, on the external environment, the campus, and the user community. This broad and well-grounded perspective will guide the Library's Strategic Plan.
From time to time I'll be posting background info here and I'm always glad to respond to your questions via email.
Best, Raynna
